Complementary Programs Implemented by Woodcroft College, SA
2005
Adolescents Coping with Emotions (ACE)
This program was used with individual students rather than small groups.
Seasons for Growth
This program was implemented for selected students across all sections of the school.
Friends
Aspects of the program were used in Middle School pastoral care lessons and a decision was made to train all Year 9 tutors for the 2006 implementation of the program as the basis of pastoral care at that year level.
Mental Health First Aid
Training was accessed by two members of staff.
2004
Adolescents Coping with Emotions (ACE)
The school had previously trained three staff members but as some had left the school, two more staff members were trained. They used the program with ten selected Year 10 students and found that, for many girls, it was 'a great success'. The school is thinking of using the ACE program with siblings of children with a disability in the form of a support group.
Friends
The school implemented the children's program in Year 6 and the youth program in Year 7. The school is currently not using the program due to changes in staff but it is hoped that this will be addressed in the future.
Seasons for Growth
Staff trained to deliver this program implemented it with a small, targeted group of students in the Junior School who needed support in dealing with grief and loss.
2003
Seasons for Growth
Staff were introduced to the program as part of pastoral care development. It increased teacher understanding of loss and grief as a process and as an opportunity for growth.
Reach Out! Youth Ambassador Program
One student was involved in this program and made presentations to Year 10 and 11 students.
Adolescents Coping with Emotions (ACE)
Sixteen students from Years 8 to 11 were involved in the ACE program.
Friends
Friends was trialled in conjunction with Program Achieve in the pastoral care sessions with all Year 6 and 7 students.
