Complementary Programs Implemented by Whitefriars College, Vic

2005

Adolescents Coping with Emotions (ACE)
The ACE program is to be introduced into the school this year and used with all Year 9 girls and those Year 9 boys identified as likely to benefit. The program will also run next year.

Resourceful Adolescent Program Adolescent (RAP A) Parent (RAP P)
The RAP A program will be used with all Year 8 students and the parent program made available to all parents/caregivers of Year 8 students.

Seasons for Growth
Seasons for Growth will be trialled with identified students from Years 7 to 12 who have been identified as needing support in dealing with issues of grief and loss.

HeartMasters
The HeartMasters resource will be embedded in the curriculum of Years 7, 9 and 10.

2004

Cool Kids
The school continued to use this program in a targeted approach and expanded it to include students across Years 7 to 10 and their parents/caregivers.

2003

Resourceful Adolescent Program Adolescent (RAP A) Parent (RAP P)
The RAP A program was used with all Year 7 students and the parent program was made available to all parents/caregivers of Year 7 students.

Cool Kids
Two teachers used the program with four boys from Years 7, 8 and 9 and found that it was 'really successful' for these boys. They also found the parent component of the program was very well received. The school had one difficulty in running the program in that it is fairly time-intensive and therefore difficult to fit in with other classes and complete in one term. However, due to the benefits of the program the school intends to run it again.
