Structure

The structure of the MindMatters Plus initiative was informed by the Health Promoting Schools Framework, the World Health Organization's model for mental health promotion in schools. Both acknowledge that effective health education requires a comprehensive approach that covers curriculum, school ethos and the relationship between the school and the local community (WHO, 1994).

MM Plus project framework

Throughout the MindMatters Plus initiative, demonstration schools have used these frameworks to inform their decisions about (and monitor the effectiveness of) educational initiatives, complementary health promotion and early intervention programs. Demonstration schools have also developed, and in some cases built on, their own in-school initiatives.
