Activities
The interpersonal aspect of working in education has a strong influence on people's sense of wellbeing at work. The activities in the Interpersonal domain can be undertaken with an informal group at your school and be used individually or at an organisational level.
Many of the activities are also available in the Journal section of this domain. The Staff Matters journal format in the Interpersonal domain - Connect and Communicate - has Ideas for Journal Writing and a Mentoring Role diary for a group to undertake. These activities provide opportunities for participants to think or talk about the interpersonal aspects of mental health and wellbeing in the education workplace.
These activities can be used by all staff with potentially universal applications. More specialised, targeted or therapeutic exercises should be undertaken with accredited life coaches, counsellors or psychologists.
The activities are intended to enable individuals and groups to begin to understand some of the currents of thought about mental health and wellbeing. Activities can be undertaken in any order, but often there is a natural progression that needs to be determined on the basis of one's purpose and interests. Immediate help for specific mental health conditions or difficulties can be obtained from Lifeline or through the appropriate employer-based channels in each state system or sector jurisdiction.
