Activity - Journals
Download a Staff Matters personal journal layout - either use the Useful Information ideas for journal writing or the Staff Matters Daily Journal and try these ideas.
- A Grateful Journal. Write down things that have occurred for one day that you feel grateful for - it's an idea that keeps us grounded in the things that count (eg I am grateful for clean air, I am grateful for friends, etc).
- An Optimism Journal. Maintain the self-talk diary in Activity. Self-talk for one month and work on reframing your self-talk.
- The mood graph. Use a small commercially available diary. It can be the same one you use to plan your health across the year. Use the weekly planner this time - try to have one with the planner for the week on one page. Draw a line through each day. Plot your mood, energy or emotions above and below the line.
- Look at what moves it above the line and below the line. Why might it be OK to be both above and below the line at times?
What do your experiences teach you about your emotions?
