Welcome
NSW Project Officer Maryanne Vorreiter has more than 20 years experience as a secondary classroom teacher and an education adviser. Maryanne is passionate about the importance of social and emotional wellbeing for all members of the school community and the influence this can have on relationships and learning.
NSW Project Officer Katharine Pryor has a background in secondary school teaching and pastoral care leadership, having worked in a variety of schools in London, the Northern Territory and New South Wales. She has a passion for raising awareness of the importance of mental health and wellbeing for both teachers and students and the impact this can have on improving lives.
Professional development

Professional development is offered through highly interactive workshops in both city and country centres. Drawing on schools with secondary enrolments (Catholic, Independent and Department of Education and Training schools), the MindMatters professional development workshops focus on:
- introducing schools to the MindMatters Resource Kit
- teaching and learning for mental health and wellbeing
- assisting schools in the development of a comprehensive whole school wellbeing implementation plan.
These objectives are achieved through Level One and Level Two workshops and the ongoing support of NSW Health's School Link Coordinators.
For participant feedback, go to Past Activities.
MindMatters NSW offers schools
In addition to the statewide professional development workshops, State Project Officers can:
- facilitate in-school support for schools undertaking Level Two planning workshops
- provide whole school staff professional development about MindMatters approaches to mental health promotion, prevention and early intervention
- assist with using MindMatters as a resource
- work with Indigenous communities to develop MindMatters across the school and community
- embed MindMatters within the policies and recommended structures in all three school systems
- assist schools and young people to utilise the NSW SRC resource
- work with school leadership using Staff Matters and the Principals Australia resource, 'Learn:Lead:Succeed', which supports the building of leadership in Australian schools
- consult and train support staff across multiple school sites on the implementation of MindMatters.
