What has been happening in Victoria?

MindMatters started the school year with seven events in schools across the State. We have provided PD with Alkira College Cranbourne, Collingwood English Language Centre, Glenroy College, Fawkner Primary School, Kyneton International School, Mount Clear College Ballarat, Rosebud Secondary College and Wangaratta High School. We look forward to working with individual schools over 2010. If you would like the State Project Officers, Brendan or Vivienne, to come to your school to discuss future PD please ring 0413 745 617 (Vivienne) or 0423 029 315 (Brendan). This consultation and PD is free to schools.

Professional development

Keep an eye out for our poster – MindMatters Victoria has put together a poster of all the events in Victoria over 2010. The poster will be sent to all secondary schools in Victoria in first term. In March 2010, a copy of the poster will also be available in the wellbeing issue of DEECD magazine Shine.

All MindMatters PD has been accredited and assessed against the professional standards by the Victorian Institute of Teaching. The list of all MindMatters PD for 2010 is also available on the VIT PD website Pdi and on the MindMatters website.

Regional student wellbeing/MindMatters groups

MindMatters works in partnership with many community and health agencies and with regional Department of Education officers.

The State Project Officers work throughout Victoria with the regional Student Wellbeing/MindMatters Groups. These groups are located in each Department of Education and Early Childhood Development region of Victoria.

The regional groups facilitate professional development on a range of mental health issues and liaise with the education, community and health sectors.

If you or your school are interested in having a MindMatters PD workshop in your school or region, please contact Vivienne Archdall or Brendan Hallinan.
