In-school support
In-school support activities
In-school support is provided to further the development of a whole school approach to mental health and wellbeing. The State Project Officers will facilitate the following activities by negotiation with school leaders;
- Assistance with using MindMatters through action planning, professional development, use of wellbeing data, curriculum integration and universal health promotion strategies.
- Promoting staff mental health and wellbeing and school leadership using Staff Matters and the Principals Australia resource, Learn:Lead:Succeed respectively.
- Assistance and support of young people to promote mental health in their school communities and further develop the Youth Empowerment Process. Encouraging schools to continue building partnerships with other community agencies in working with young people.
- Making links to key initiatives within schools, including Values Education, the National Safe Schools Framework and Principals Australia projects such as Dare To Lead, KidsMatter and the Career Lighthouse Project
- Developing community partnerships with Indigenous communities through the Communities Do Matter Focus Module.
Youth Empowerment Process
The students involved in the trial of the MindMatters Youth Empowerment Process in partnership with the Department of Education and Training Community Service Program provided feedback to the National Youth Empowerment Officer. This has been incorporated into the Youth Empowerment Process.
