Explore values and beliefs connected to political structures. | Level 5 Historical knowledge and understandingAt Level 5 students analyse and describe key aspects of life in ancient and medieval societies. They compare key aspects of past and present societies, for example, social and political ideas and structures, and cultural values and beliefs. They analyse change and continuity over time, sequence events and develop timelines, and use a range of evidence to describe features of past societies. Level 6 Historical knowledge and understandingAt Level 6 students analyse and describe the factors involved in the British colonisation of Australia and evaluate the impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. They analyse significant events and movements which have resulted in improvements in civil and political rights for groups of Australians, and describe the contributions of key participants and leaders in these events. They compare different perspectives about a significant event. Students explain the historical foundation of contemporary issues, such as constitutional change, land rights, multicultural issues, and changing community values and beliefs. Student analyse the impact of significant events and ideas in shaping world history in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. They describe and explain the key changes in social and political attitudes, ideologies and values in society in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. They explain how key political ideas have operated in one or more twentieth and twenty-first century historical contexts. They demonstrate an understanding of globalisation and understand aspects of Australia’s role in the international sphere and in global issues. |
