School Audits and Surveys
Audits and surveys on mental health and wellbeing need to be appropriate to the context of the school and the group (students, staff, parents/caregivers) being surveyed. Professional audits and surveys are available from a range of services online. These may need to be undertaken as a whole, as part of a specified program, or in a particular way, if the school is to be able to compare results with other similar locations.
MindMatters audits and surveys are available free of charge and online. The new MindMatters audits and surveys have been developed to reflect the learnings from the MindMatters implementation, school experience and the evaluation tools.
The MindMatters surveys are for use with the students, the staff and the parent and carer and community group. Schools can elect to survey all staff or survey a random proportion of the staff, students or parents. MindMatters suggests surveying at least 20% of the school population. For schools, in general, the more people who complete the survey, the more valid the results will be perceived by the school community.
The MindMatters surveys are organised around the MindMatters Implementation model. MindMatters recommends schools initially focus on a small number of action areas or enablers and undertake the relevant sections of the survey. MindMatters has a short or rapid version as well as the longer more detailed surveys.
