Understanding friends and peers

It’s important that students recognise mental health warning signs and know where help can be accessed – but how can you highlight this in the classroom?

Understanding friends and peers – Module for use with students

This module designed specifically for use with students looks at what it means to be mentally healthy, and what has the potential to affect mental health. Students are guided through classroom activities and discussions to an understanding of mental health warning signs, and build practical knowledge of how and where to seek help. Two videos, created for a student audience, are used within the activities to help students understand the ups and downs of mental health, how to look after themselves and how to look out for friends and peers.

During the activities, students learn important concepts about mental health and are introduced to websites and mental health organisations where they can go for more information and support. The module resources include a student handout and a teacher guide to provide structure and guidance for running the activities in the classroom.
